Travel and Sustainable Tourism
Tourism and Natural environment are strongly interconnected. In the Azores we realized that Nature is our most important resource and the key element that makes the Azores an unique place. As more regions develop their tourism industry, it produces significant impacts on natural resources, consumption patterns, pollution and social systems. Climate change is already happening and will have a bigger impact with time. Now is the time to act to make the world a better place for the next generations.
The best option to the Azores symbolizes all that Melo Travel wants to become. To accomplish that, Melo Travel is in the process of certification for sustainable Tourism, complying with Earth Check standards (using Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria). Doing this, Melo Travel is preparing the ground for a long term commitment of reducing the carbon footprint, the negative impact in Nature and maximizing the positive impacts of the Agency activity. Melo Travel will make efforts on engaging all Stakeholders to include economic, social and environmental aspects of sustainable development in their activity, like local communities, visitors, suppliers, partners and government.
Earth Check Certification
